This story almost seems like a no-brainer. Since people are online a lot more than they used to be and technology is far different from what it was after some of the major wars of the last century, it seems natural that today's veterans would be interested in connecting to other veterans online. It's good that there are resources out there to enable them to do so.

Birdsell, dean of the school of public affairs at Baruch College in New York: "A lot of people will tune in for the same reason they watch NASCAR: because on that last turn a car might crash and burn. Notice how the grooms seem to be the ones injured on the cake toppers. Is it the husband who's saying his former wife decapitated him or pushed him off the cake with the divorce or is it the woman who's making the cake in victory of beheading her former spouse?

This recipe is indeed great! I think I would add less sugar next time, perhaps as much as 1/3 cup less, because the orange juice really makes the cookies sweet. I put in more chopped nuts and raisins, especially because I had no carrots on hand. Despite the ingredients list not mentioning rice milk, the instructions say to add some. I added extra orange juice when the batter looked dry and that seemed to work fine.

This pie is incredibly easy to make and was a hit at the vegetarian potluck I attended this weekend. I altered the recipe because I feared with just chili powder, it would be a little bland for my taste. I should have added even more cumin and garlic than I did. Perhaps substituting salsa for the tomatoes would be an improvement, too. It's nice as it is, but I would prefer a little more flavor. I think I'll experiment with what is left.

After finding these cookies in Babbledog, I had to make them. I love peanut butter and couldn't stop thinking about what these would taste like. They're very easy and quick to assemble. I'm not sure why Horn felt he had to go outside to defend his neighbor's property and why he decided to shoot the fellows. I can't speak for Horn. In certain circumstances, when people feel like the authorities are not responding at all or not responding in a timely fashion, they might be more likely to take matters into their own hands. Perhaps Horn feared the robbers would escape before the police arrived and he wanted to make sure they were caught. Once the dispatcher knew Horn had a shotgun and was intending to go outside to use it, it seems like he should have aggressively informed Horn about the arrival of the officers so Horn wouldn't have shot any of them accidentally. I don't think the dispatcher said anything about that until Horn came back on the line after shooting the robbers. Then, he was quite insistent about Horn not shooting anyone else. The dispatcher was probably doing the best he could do under the incredibly stressful circumstances. I can't imagine what it must be like to try to talk someone down from shooting someone else.

I am often surprised at how women must compete before being allowed to compete in a sport. Women's history, even in the United States, is filled with stories of them convincing men they can participate in sports. I'm a little surprised the article's author didn't address whether there's anything in Islam that would prevent a woman from being an athlete, besides clothing issues in certain cultures. To me, that seems more like an excuse than a real reason. Women are enterprising enough to adapt their appropriate dress to any number of physical activities.
